 ACCREDITATION ENTITLEMENTS – No switching of passes

All Players = 3

• All Coach, Physio, Trainer, and Hitting Partner’s accreditation nominations are final and non-transferrable once collected
• Players with children are permitted to bring their children and one (1) person whose primary role is caregiver for those children. The caregiver’s pass does not count towards the players allocation of 3 PST accreditations
• Any minor (11 years and under) who a player is the legal guardian of (i.e., direct children of players) are not counted towards their allocation of 3 PST accreditations.
• Any other minors (11 years and under) who are not the children of a player (e.g., the children of a PST member or other guests) can be allocated a PST accreditation, however this will count towards the allocation of 3 PST accreditations to a player
• Players are responsible for the behaviour of their guests and any unsuitable behaviour may result in the confiscation of Guest accreditation passes

ACCREDITATION VALIDITY

Accreditation is valid for all Players and their PSTs until two (2) days after the day of elimination from the tournament. Players can apply for an Out of Tournament Pass that will enable them to continue practicing onsite. All team members’ passes will be cancelled when the player physically departs Melbourne

TENNIS ANTI CORRUPTION PROGRAM (TACP)

The TACP is in place to maintain the integrity of tennis and protect against corruption and betting related offences, including any efforts to impact improperly the results of any match. It is the responsibility of players, coaches, officials and all ‘covered persons’ to be aware of and comply with the TACP rules. To view the TACP, please click here

There will be no Player Bank on-site. The Australian Open has arranged with ANZ for players to visit the Collins Street ANZ branch at 55 Collins Street should they wish to withdraw or deposit cash. Please note, a maximum of AUD8,000 per day in AUD currency can be withdrawn. No foreign currency may be withdrawn.

Car Parking passes must be collected from the Player Concierge Desks prior to entering, and at the maximum of one day in advance.

ELECTRONIC MEAL ALLOWANCE

Player’s meal allowance (EMA) is AUD$100 per day and automatically applied to their accreditation pass. In addition, each player will also receive 2 x Meal Allowance cards, with a value of AUD$50 per day to be shared among their team. Any difference, once the daily credit has been spent, must be paid for by the user. This can be used at all dining outlets within the Player Area

Please note: Meal Allowance cannot be used for the purchase of takeaway food or alcohol in the Player Dining Areas.

Anyone experiencing problems with their EMA should report this to Player Accreditation (+61 3 9914 4566) where assistants will investigate the problem and activate the EMA accordingly.

Tennis Australia has a zero tolerance policy on illegal gambling, match fixing and the communication of sensitive information which may affect the outcome of a match and will investigate all reported instances.

Every qualifying, main draw (singles and doubles) and wheelchair player in the tournament is entitled to an official Australian Open player gift as detailed below.  Only players are allowed to pick up their gift.
Please note: Players cannot receive more than one official Australian Open player gift pack.

ACCREDITATION CHECK
Players and coaches will have their accreditation checked at the entrance before using any equipment. Only approved accreditation personnel will be entitled to enter the gym. Please note, no children are permitted in the gym, recovery centre or recharge zone.

BUSY TIMES

If overcrowding is experienced in any area, preference will be given to players warming up prior to their match, and those who are still in the tournament. Please visit an alternate performance area.

INTRODUCTION
In the event of extreme heat, the Referee has the right to suspend play or order a cooling break in accordance with this Australian Open Extreme Heat Policy (EHP). The EHP applies to both the outdoor courts and Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena (together, the Arena Courts) as outlined below.
The EHP is based on the Australian Open Heat Stress Scale (AO-HSS) which has a scale of 1 to 5. AO-HSS readings are continually made throughout each day of the Australian Open, including Qualifying.

SUSPENSION OF PLAY- OUTDOOR COURTS
Any matches in progress on outdoor courts at the time the AO-HSS reaches:
a) for Women’s and Men’ Singles and Doubles: 5;
b) for Junior Singles and Doubles: 4.9;
c) for Wheelchair Singles and Doubles: 4.6;

SUSPENSION OF PLAY- ARENA COURTS
Any matches in progress in an Arena Court at the time the AO-HSS reaches:
a) for Women’s and Men’ Singles and Doubles: 5;
b) for Junior Singles and Doubles: 4.9;
c) for Wheelchair Singles and Doubles: 4.6,
will continue until an even number of games in that set (or completion of the tie break, if applicable). At the end of the even number of games in that set (or completion of the tie break, if applicable), the roof will close for the remainder of the match.

UPCOMING MATCHES ON BOTH OUTDOOR COURTS AND ARENA COURTS
At the time the AO-HSS reaches the thresholds noted above as relevant, the Referee may suspend the calling of any upcoming matches on outdoor courts. If matches on the outdoor courts have been suspended, the Referee may make the decision to close the roof or to keep the roof closed (as applicable) for any upcoming matches on the Arena Courts.

RESUMPTION OF PLAY
d) During a suspension of play pursuant to this EHP, the Referee will continually review the conditions and the AO-HSS to determine when play can be resumed.
e) Once the Referee has decided to resume play, each player will be given at least 30 minutes’ notice prior to the resumption of play. Announcements will be made via the public address system.

COOLING BREAKS
f) Unless any of the circumstances in 4(b) apply, the following cooling breaks will be allowed during play:
i. Women’s Singles: A 10-minute break in play will be allowed between the 2nd and 3rd sets when an AO-HSS of 4 has been recorded at any time during the first 2 sets of the match.
ii. Men’s Singles: A 10-minute break in play will be allowed between the 3rd and 4th sets when an AO-HSS of 4 has been recorded at any time during the first 3 sets of the match.
iii. Junior Singles: A 10-minute break in play will be allowed between the 2nd and 3rd sets, when an AO-HSS of 3.9 has been recorded during the first 2 sets of the match.
iv. Wheelchair Singles: A 15-minute break in play will be allowed between the 2nd and 3rd sets, when an AO-HSS of 3.6 has been recorded during the first 2 sets of the match.
v. Doubles: No break in play will be allowed.
g) During a cooling break players may stay on court and use approved cooling measures and/or attend designated cooling rooms/showers. For the avoidance of doubt, all other Grand Slam Rules apply.
h) No cooling breaks will apply:
i. between the 2nd and 3rd sets in any best of 3 set singles match, if play has previously been suspended due to the EHP in the first set;
ii. between the 3rd and 4th sets, in a best of 5 set singles match, if play has previously been suspended due to the EHP in the first two sets; or
iii. in an Arena Court match if the roof is closed before the conclusion of the first set.

LAUNDRY

All player laundry is handled at their designated Change Room.

Laundry bags are available from the Change Room attendants. A maximum of one bag of light-coloured tennis clothing only per day will apply. Please retain and reuse your laundry bags and tags for the duration of the tournament

The Laundry Service operates from Thursday 5 January until players final match in tournament.

All non-player laundry is handled at the Coaches Concierge Desk.

• Coaches, personal physios and trainers are permitted to utilize the laundry service at discounted fee of $15 per bag of laundry for sport clothing only.
• Immediate family of the players (i.e. wife / husband, partner, children) will be entitled to a laundry service of $20 per bag.
• Note: Player Concierge staff are not to assume responsibility if any laundry is damaged. Players/Coaches are responsible for ensuring clothing is suitable for dry cleaning. Any issues should be directed to the Player Concierge Desk.

MATCH ANALYSIS /FOOTAGE

Online Match Analysis allows players to view their Australian Open matches throughout the year.

To access this, players can use their personalised username and password to login to the Player Website or Player App and click on the Match Analysis link.

If you require assistance with accessing your Match Analysis there is a host desk located next to the Player Concierge within the Player Waiting Lounge that can assist you with all your requirements.

All match footage of any match played throughout the tournament is available through the Match Analysis link.

MERCHANDISE OFFER

All players are entitled to receive a 20% discount on official Australian Open merchandise at the Australian Open Merchandise Store. Accreditation must be shown upon purchase to receive the discount

The Australian Open merchandise are located under MCA across from Garden Square and at Centrepiece across from RLA Entrance.

Located above the Player Concierge desk, the Player Services noticeboard is used to communicate messages about Player Entertainment, Activations, gifts and reminders on a daily basis.

The official clock will be displayed at Tournament Control and the time at which the first call is made will be noted and used, in the event of a player’s late arrival to the court.

The Australian Open reserves the right to reject player clothing that the Referee deems inappropriate

PER DIEM

To help defray the costs of accommodation and travel, players will receive a per diem payment that will be paid with their prize money.

The National Tennis Centre debuted at the 2013 AO, increasing practice courts. It has 7 outdoor Greenset Acryclic Hardcourts, 8 indoor Greenset Acryclic Hardcourts and 6 outdoor Italian clay courts (subject to availability).

PRACTICE DESK

The Australia Open Practice Desk is located in the Player Waiting Lounge on Level 1. There is also an additional practice desk located at the NTC next to the Player Concierge

• Courts can only be reserved after the schedule for the next day is released.
• Practice bookings for players still in the tournament will be given priority; however, every effort will be made to provide courts where available.
• In the event that rain is forecast for the following day, players out of the tournament are not able to book a court the day before. However, they may request a court on the day if one is available (including indoor courts). In this instance, a court will be allocated 10 minutes prior to the hour if still available.

QUIET ROOM

The Player Quiet Room is located under MCA just prior to the player walk-on entry near the Coaches Concierge and MCA Player Stretch.

Please respect that this is a quiet zone. Ensure all mobile and music devices are on silent. 

Note: This area is strictly for Players only – therefore, no coaches, agents, family members etc. are allowed to enter the room.

Staffing Hours

ROOF CLOSURE

The ‘default’ position of the roof/s is to be OPEN.

From 2hrs prior to the Official Match Schedule starting time, the Referee will be the sole judge as to the position of the roof/s in accordance with the policy.

The roof/s will only be moved with the AO Referees authority.

• It is recognised by all concerned that the Australian Open is primarily an outdoor tournament and wherever practical, conditions on Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena will be the same as on all other courts.

Shade

• When a roof is open, the two moveable halves will be positioned so that during the session of play, the shadow cast by the roof lines will not fall on the playing surface bounded by the court markings.
• To adjust for shadows, the roof/s will be moved during a match as pre-authorised by the AO Referee (see section below for more information). Movement should only occur during a change of ends.

Rain

• In the event of rain falling prior to the scheduled starting time of play, the roof/s may be closed as directed by the AO Referee.
• If play commences with roofs closed, then the roofs will remain closed for the remainder of the match. Then, provided the weather forecast is favourable, a decision may be taken by the AO Referee to open the roofs for the following matches.
• When play commences with a roof open, a decision to close the roof during play will only be made by the AO Referee, after consultation with onsite weather meteorologists when rain is certain to interrupt and delay play.
• A roof will not normally be closed due to the threat of rain before play.
• Depending on circumstances, the AO Referee at his/her discretion can to have the roof/s opened later in the same match.

 Heat

• Under the Extreme Heat Policy (EHP), where play in any match commences outdoors (and with the roof/s open), the match will stop after an even number of games in that set, or at the completion of a tie break, if the AO Referee invokes the EHP. At this time, the AO Referee will request that the arena roof/s are CLOSED. The roof/s will then remain CLOSED for the remainder of the match, and for the following matches if the EHP is still in effect (on Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena).
• A roof will only be closed because of extreme heat if a decision has been made by the AO Referee to suspend the completion, or commencement, of matches on the outside courts.

SEAMSTRESS

A seamstress will be located near the player accreditation desk and GP reception. This is within the RLA Player Entrance corridor (near the official transport drop-off location).

MCA Stretch Area:

Stretch Area located under MCA near court 1573. This area contains 3 partitioned quiet areas with stretch mats.

The MCA Stretch Area is accessible by turning left when exiting the Player Quiet Room.

MCA Running Track:

A 25m player running track, running along the length of the RLA buggy route.

This is located between the MCA stretch area and Show Court 2.

RLA Warm Up Area:

STRINGING SERVICE

The AO Official Stringer is located at the end of the Player Corridor opposite the Centrepiece Gym.

Free Stringing

All qualifying and main draw players will receive 5 free restrings for every round they play in the competition. Any restrings above the 5 racquets per round will be charged via prize money

NOTE: All stringing transactions will be settled at Prize Money at the conclusion of the tournament.

 Costs

• For players who require restrings above the 5 free racquets per round who supply their own string, the cost is AUD$32 (incl. GST).
• For players that require string from the Stringer, ask for the price upon application.
